Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026
This policy explains what information MXV (the website at mxvmusic.com) and the MXV Audio Link Chrome extension use, why, and the choices you have. In short: you can use MXV without an account, we don't sell your data, and the extension never records or uploads audio.
Using MXV without an account
Your playlists and settings (such as visual style, color theme and volume) are saved in your own browser's local storage. They stay on your device and are not sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Signing in with Google
Signing in is optional. If you sign in, we use Google Firebase Authentication and receive your:
- name, email address and profile photo from your Google account
- a unique account ID
We also store your playlists (playlist names and the YouTube songs in them), when your account was created and when you last used MXV. This lets you use your playlists on any computer. The data is stored in a database on Cloudflare. We use it only to run MXV and to understand overall usage, such as how many people are active.
The MXV Audio Link extension
The extension only works on mxvmusic.com, and only after you click its icon. While Music Sync is on, it analyzes the sound of that tab and turns it into a simple frequency spectrum (how loud the bass, mids and highs are) on your own computer. That spectrum is passed to the MXV page in the same tab to drive the visuals.
- No audio is recorded, stored or uploaded.
- The extension does not collect personal data, browsing history or page content.
- Music Sync stops when you click the icon again or close the tab.
Services from other companies
MXV relies on a few services that process data under their own privacy policies:
- YouTube plays the songs through its embedded player and may set its own cookies. Song thumbnails load from YouTube's image servers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase handles sign-in.
- noembed.com looks up song titles when you paste a YouTube link. The link is sent to that service.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and database and may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.
Cookies
MXV itself does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Firebase keeps you signed in, and YouTube may set cookies through its player.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We only share it with the service providers above, to run MXV, or when required by law.
Deleting your data
You can sign out at any time. To delete your account and the playlists stored with it, email us at support@mxvmusic.com from the email address you signed in with, and we will delete it.
Children
MXV is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the date at the top.
